The global wave of FDCA industrialization is accelerating rapidly, the global FDCA market has already reached approximately USD 160 million in 2025 and is projected to climb to USD 988 million by 2032.
In this global race to replace petroleum-based plastics with bio-based materials, the Netherlands-based Avantium is leading the pack with a fully-fledged commercialization pathway: the world's first flagship FDCA plant with an annual capacity of 5,000 tons is slated to be completed and commissioned by mid-2026. The company has already secured over EUR 100 million in off-take contracts and nine capacity reservation agreements, and has successfully advanced PEF into diverse application scenarios including luxury goods, FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods), and building materials.
On the afternoon of May 21, 2026, Mr. Marco Jansen, Chief Commercial Officer of Avantium, will attend the 11th Bio-based Conference & Exhibition (Bio-based 2026) — the 3rd Bio-based International Cooperation Forum — to deliver a keynote report titled "Avantium Leads the Way: Scaling PEF with the World's First Commercial Plant."
Marco Jansen's report will deliver an intellectual feast for every industry participant.
